He is so cool and calm and in control ,he is on top of everything and no big name of a player can intimidate him .

On the penalty incident he was spot on and so decisive, didn't waste a second and pointed straight to the spot.

Everything about him is class .

He was already the referee of the most crucial game in round of 16, he was the referee of Olympics final, World club final, Asian Cup final(if i am not wrong), the guy is one of the best refereeS in the world.

It will be a huge surprise if FIFA awards that to a referee on his first World Cup. Remember he was the fourth official in 2014. Nonetheless, I hope it happens. He has been great.

The guy is more close to world class than anything withing the Iranian football ever was!
Sly jan, it is sad to see that you are falling for the same old Iran-bashing when on this forum.

First of all, Faghani is indeed world-class (not close to it), as evidenced by his refereeing in WC, the biggest football event in the world.

Second, several Iranian players were World-class (different than best in the world). Daei was a world-class striker playing for top clubs and scoring in the CL against some giants. Karimi was a world-class MF, albeit a lazy one. Kia was a world-class winger. I would say that at least two-Iran GK (Hejazi and AbedZadeh) were also world-class. Eskandarian was also world-class in the 70s.

So yes, lets celebrate the success of Faghani, but lets not use his success to piss on the rest of Iranian football.

It is not Iran bashing. It is simply true. None of our players or coaches have ever reached where he has. In terms of class (shakhsiat) he is up there with just a few.

I have a feeling that its between Faghani and Kuipers, according to the "refs league table" doing the round on twitter they are the highest rated refs at the moment, so made sense that they got the first 2nd round games and as both did well they will likely get a quarter final or semi final slot. After that who knows.

Our team melli football is now a world class team ,meaning the best in the world find it hard to play against Iran as it was proven in this world cup .

We have always had world class players based on their own merit and skill and ability as far back as 50 years ago ,but we carried this inferiority complex that we are not as good as the world class players .

Hejazi ,Nazari, Ghelichkhani ,Parvin ,Eskandaryan ,Abdollahi ,Roshan ,Danayeefar , sadeghi ,Qasempour,Adelkhani , Bagheri ,Mahdavikia , Daei ,Azizi ,Karimi ,Hashemian plus the new crops of players like Azmoon ,Gucci,Ghodoos, Pouraliganji , Ebrahimi ,Beiranvand ,Rezayian , Milad Mohammadi ,Hajsafi ,Ezatollahi all world class players .

They all played againts world class opponents and proved they are in their class .
