Not if correct measures are not taken
The fact that big portion of Iranians don't take this matter seriously, is very worrisome
Remember even if 1 million Iranians get it, with this rate, 30k people will die.
so far the fatality rate in Iran has been close to 5% vs Korea which saw 0.05%.
we don't know the true number of cases in iran.
but my guess we are probably at something on the order 100k-500k people who have contracted the virus.
when this all said and done 30 million people in iran will contract the virus. in many places even the poor hospitals that tehran has don't exist. so it is safe to assume that about 600k might eventually die from this if the fatality rate stays as it is.
of course then there is argument around herd immunity that we don't know how to factor in.
There is the argument around genetic selection and the virus has already affected those who were more susceptible.
