Anyone into NFT?

Anyone here into NFT and understand what the heck is the value in this? A friend of mine just started his own NFT project, he has tried to explain ti to me but I be honest it is not clicking for me, and funny part is, when I get into detail, he, himself doesn't seem to fully understand it, but he just cleared 75K selling some SHITTY art, like WTF ...

NFT is somehow like a certificate that gives you ownership of a digital work. Because that certificate is on block-chain you have the rights to that art work forever unless you sell it to another owner. It is like you go and get a signature from an athlete on his image, you own that work. Others can copy that one but the original owner is you. Similarly many people have the print version of Mona Lisa but the actual owner is the museum.

I understand paying X amount for Mona Lisa! but like can you tell me why someone would pay 17K for that art i posted?
I think you are bang on, if this is not money laundry, then I think people have lost it ! 17K for that artwork?

I just can't wrap my mind around how much people are paying for these digital artworks. Iran Inter Esteghlal good point this is one way to wash dirty money with clean money so it's a godsend for Cartels.

So then NFT has replaced gambling on football games, for Cartels to wash dirty money or drug money with clean money. Best thing that happened to them since Crypto Currency.
