Iran is battling one of the worst outbreaks outside China. On Sunday the Health Ministry reported 113 more deaths, bringing the country’s death toll to 724 amid 13,938 confirmed cases. The real number of infections could be even higher, as questions have been raised about the government’s transparency.
“If the trend continues, there will not be enough capacity,” Ali Reza Zali, who is leading the campaign against the outbreak, was quoted as saying earlier by the state-run IRNA news agency.
Iran is believed to have around 110,000 hospital beds, including 30,000 in the capital, Tehran. Authorities have pledged to set up mobile clinics as needed.
Zali also acknowledged that “many” of those who have died from the COVID-19 illness caused by the virus were otherwise healthy, a rare admission by local authorities that the virus does not only prey on the sick and elderly.

this is what i meant when i said you need an advanced
health care system to even detect the covid-19 related
infections.iran has it and they are dealing with it.
this guy was at the border of greece and turkey and got
sick but in turkey they told him he is ok.
he got real sick and got back to the uk where they told
him you got the covid-19,stay home.
i wonder how many people in west asia are dealing with
covid-19 related illness and don't even know about it.

I have spoken to friends and family in far flung places in Iran.

fortunately there is not shortage of food yet (for those who have money.)

Government has marginally increased subsidies to lower deciles (not that 3 dollar extra per month helps much)

Officially there is no Containment zones.

but unofficially each Shahrestan's Farmandar is enforcing quite bit of Checkpoints. where only essential good are allowed in an out.

Illinois shuts down bars, restaurants due to coronavirus

The governor of Illinois on Sunday ordered all bars and restaurants in his state to close amid the threat of the new coronavirus, and officials elsewhere in the country said they were considering similar restrictions after revelers ignored warnings against attending large gatherings.

"The time for persuasion and public appeals is over,” Gov. J.B. Pritzker said. “This is not a joke. No one is immune to this.”

The Democratic governor said he had tried earlier this week to appeal to everyone’s good judgment to stay home, to avoid bars, and not congregate in crowds. He added that it is unfortunate that many people didn’t take that seriously.

The order takes effect Monday night and will last through March 30.

The CDC recommends canceling all events with more than 50 people to curb the spread of coronavirus

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) put forward new guidelines on Sunday recommending that all gatherings and events of 50 people and more be postponed until May.

As of Sunday evening, the US has reported over 3,668 cases of coronavirus, which causes a disease known as COVID-19. The disease has also killed 68 people in the US and has spread to over 100 countries.

The CDC announced the new guidelines in a statement:

"Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States via travelers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities," the CDC said.

According to the CDC, examples of large events and mass gatherings "include conferences, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events, weddings, and other types of assemblies. These events can be planned not only by organizations and communities but also by individuals."

The CDC recommended that organizers of these types of events, which consist of 50 or more people, cancel or postpone for the next eight weeks.

LA Mayor Eric Garcetti Orders Closure of All Restaurants and Bars

On Sunday evening, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced the near-complete closure of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, entertainment venues, and gyms in the city until at least March 31. Restaurants will allowed to continue offering takeout and delivery.

Last week, Garcetti cautioned against dining in at restaurants, encouraging the public instead to order takeout in order to support local LA businesses. The new mandate for restaurant and bars comes amid guidance from the CDC to reduce interaction and mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus.
