    general parsian jan.

despite all the shortcomings of our football.

lets not kid ourselves our team over all each decade has been better than the one before.

Iran 2007 team is a much better team than 1996 team (frankly we accidentally beat suadies with 3 goals and advaned)

I argue that Iran 2007 is better than any team we have had before. is there a couple of stars I would like to have from each team ? yes

maybe i like abedzade from 98 . maybe I like parving from 70s. maybe I like to have Ali Daei 1994 on the team.

but over all this team is most complete team we have had.

serioulsy one of 1970s defenders was mansoor poor heydari? is that guy even deserve to be in the same sentece that Rahman Rezaie Jalal hossein are mentioned in? We have never had the depth that we have today in our football.

and you know what iran 2015 will make this team look like a bucnh guys from behind the moutain. It is just fact of life, we are developing nation our football has got better despite all difficulties.
democratic party is turning out to be just a faction of state party. (maybe chomsky was right).

yes and no. now our team is better as the level of soccer has improved all over the world and iran is no exception. but in 1996 we were dominant. in 1996 we screwed the first game and after that it was pure power lead by the 4 aformentioned players. i ,by no means call that 3-0 victory "an accident"???come on not 1 not 2 but 3 lucky goals??? while the Saudi had 42% possession???

in 1996 we played superb throughout the tournament and lost to KSA in penalties with poor referee....the ref got suspended for 2 years because of that match!!

now our Team is more advanced and no doubt that will beat our our 1996 team, but you have to put things into perspective.

    cheers,
    Bardia

Branko use to do the same thing too. He would ask for a cookie because the players were walking. "Isn't it amazing that they are walking."
Gholi is an idiot. There is no doubt about it. Branko new football much better than Gholi. But there are a few things Gholi is better in. He certainly is much braver than Branko. Branko's aim was to be as politically correct as possible to keep his job. And he did well to last 6 years. Gholi also has payed attention to preparing the players to be physically more fit for this tournament, something Branko never did.

Bottom line aside from Ivic, Iran has not had a real coach since the revolution. And it is understandbale. No decent professional can work with the idiots in charge. Ivic for example was fired after they had handed him a million dollars.
