@Real Madrid-I think someone hacked this it kept mentioning HAITI in your FIRST POST HAITI? Who cares about them lol I think someone wanted to write DDR and they wrote HAITI instead No effing way haiti scores a goal against Italy do they even have cleats? I know it was a mistake and not YOURS it was the guy writing it, I never remember Haiti doing anything, except their government waiting money and they are poor as shit. I might be missing something komrade but Haiti scored a goal v Italy? That would suck for Italian FuBall fans, you got scored on by Haiti. I DIDN'T CATCH IT the first TIME so I am bringing it to your attention.

I suppose we can discuss it tomorrow and clear up some confusions, might be on my end but where does Haiti fit with DDR?

Their record will forever stand because there is no more DDR and BDR. This team had a lot of individual talent. If the Soviet economy would have collapsed in the 70s rather than the 80s, most of these guys would have been playing in the Bundesliga. Die DDR- ultimate underdog story.

Dear friend, this game started at volks park stadium in Hamburg.62000 crowd where only 1500 came from East Germany were watching the game, this game directly broadcasted Via satellite for Iran at 22.oo pm.(saturday 1st of tir 1353).

Still, it was an important event, with the West Germans as huge favourites: besides being at home, the team were defending European champions, and had a core of players from the Bayern Munich team that a month earlier had lifted the European Champions Cup trophy after crushing Atlético Madrid in the final.

Nevertheless, the East Germans had a good team as well; the East German champions, FC Magdeburg, had also won European glory a month before when they won the European Cup Winners Cup by defeating AC Milan 2-0. Many players had good Olympic experience, having won bronze at the 1972 Olympics (and they would win gold in 1976)

Only 1,500 specially selected East German fans were allowed to travel to Hamburg by train, for a match with 60,000 spectators.

The goalscorer in this infamous match, Jürgen Sparwasser, later wrote, ‘Rumour had it I was richly rewarded for the goal, with a car, a house and a cash premium. But that is not true’. In 1988, one year before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Sparwasser defected to the West

a victory was important for both teams. Helmut Shoen, the West German coach who was born in Dresden wanted his team to win. Beckenbauer would say “we are playing this for Shoen.” For the East German regime, which was trying to prove that they were better than the Westerners in anything, this was a political issue also.

    The Match……

The game started at 19:30 hours (Central European Time) at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg in front of 60,350 spectators including a group of 2,000 ‘loyal’ East German supporters, carefully selected by the communist regime. The players themselves were somewhat confused as to how to behave in such an encounter. First half did not produce a goal despite both teams having chances. Mueller hit the post once and the East Germans missed an open goal.

In the second half, West Germany dominated the game but it was a break at the other end which allowed Juergen Sparwasser to score in the 77th minute, instantly transforming him to an East German legend. The stadium went quiet except for the 2,000 East Germans chanting “sieben, acht, neun, zhen, Klasse” (seven, eight, nine, ten, (top) class) while frantically waving their flags. For the remainder of the game the East Germans managed to defend their lead despite everything their opponent threw at them and won the game.

Helmut Shoen was considerably demoralized by his team's defeat and Beckenbauer had to step in to the void during the remainder of their world cup. Their fans were totally disappointed also. However as the then Dutch captain Cruyff would say at a later time, “Every disadvantage has an advantage” and the West Germans went on to prove it. Their defeat meant that they were the second of the group behind the East Germans. Therefore, the Germans did not meet the Dutch powerhouse until the final. They became better and better as the tournament progressed and ultimately won it. Meanwhile, the East Germans were eliminated at the second round

For the first time in History of world cup and Tv in Iran,Manook Khodabakhshian, used to analyze the game between East and west Germany,at 12.00 AM sunday 2nd of tir, predicting that west germany will be eliminated in the next round, his guess was wrong.

Habib roshanzadeh, declared that west Germany lost intentionally in order to not confront with Dutch team and Johan cruyeff.

As the old Mazandarani saying goes : shoghaaleh beesheyeh Mazandaran ra .....nageerad joz saggeh Mazandarani

I remember that game well as Kasra mentioned it was live on our TV screens ,in that world cup it was only the East Germans who could beat the eventual world champions West Germany with all their mighty stars , I was quite upset at the time watching that game .

But nothing came close to Iran missing that world cup by a margin of one goal ,first time I cried over football and perhaps the last time too ...

The final of that world cup was a memorable one too with Holland scoring within a minute of kick off ,it was also the first time that diving was introduced in the world stage by German winger Holsenbain (spelling) .

Iran went on to meet two of the powerhouses of world football with more or less the same players after that world cup . Poland who finished third and Holland who were the runners up .

Had we made it to WC74 we might have had a better fielding for 1978 with the experience we would have gained in Germany.

There is a good seven part Doc called DAS WAR DAR DDR very informative if anyone is interested it discusses everything from socialist economic politics, Stazi, media social life, military(very strong) VERY good and unbiased doc not western propaganda, honest You can also type in That Was The GDR and it would pop and subtitles are in English as well, for English speakers. Therefore, you know that they targeted it to a western audience. ON THE ROOS SIDE- They talked to some Soviet ATACHE and they thought after 1949, first and last free elections in the DDR, they thought they were going to stay for a couple of years and leave. They did not know they were going to stay for a long time and the atache people were not too happy with that either so cheers to the fair Roos who said that.
GOOD INFO DANKE (Prost) Bavarian Bier SPARWASSER!!!!!!!! reps for everyone great info i am going to revisit these because lots of info but it is all making sense now I was born in 82 but I had fam in Lepzeig and in E. Berlin. In the DDR they made East Berlin nice because it was the showcase but the rest of the country was not. Also individual talent was there but government support was not.

    CLUB RESEARCH-
SO MYSTERYOUSLY GOVT TEAMS FROM EAST BERLIN WOULD USUALLY WIN. DDR Club Football is about as legit as a $3 haha More research some teams kept their communist past like Hanza Rockets then the DDR league merged with the Bundesliga, after the collapse of the SU/CCCP economy in the 80s. Two people put the screws on the DDR Thatcher and Regan, just giving the historical background as much as I know. Ulbricht and Horneker were also both about a fuck and first they were adefacto Soviet puppet state. In 1973, when they got internationally recognized by the UN, they became an official Soviet puppet State. Erok Horneker promised change but he was really Walter Ulbrikt 2.0. Horneker's dumompf Saddam loving ass got exiled to Chile, after the fall of the DDR. They decided to spare his life because the old bastard was going to die soon anyways.

Thanks to Arash T I read an article which shows he gave a typewiter to his buddy SADDAM HUSSEIN FICH Horneker, Ulbrickt and Erik Meleke (head of Stazi) Now although the DDR time were tough, there were some good things. The PEOPLE were good and took care of each other. Forget about about the Stazi crap for a minute, that is LAZY MAN HISTORY. DDR STAZI, CCCP COMMIE Germany NAZI Iran-ISLAM see I can do that too. PROST guys. I will read everything but the Persian articles, Keyvan Pars jan, if you can translate DANKE meine bruder. EVERYONE THANK YOU THANk YOU THANK YOU PROST BAVARIAN BIER!
