    I guess he was already sick and out . usually the mail lions are lousy hunters . they should leave the lioness go for hunt . when a lion does not grab by the throat then you know he is either half dead or too young .

    That lion looked old and weak and hungry ,probably been kicked out of his territory by younger males and had to do it on his own ,old lions either starve to death or end up losing their last fight or hunt like this ...

    This happens more often than one might think. The lion doesn't have to be old and weak. Even young and strong solo lions are often attacked by buffalo and they lose. Usually their hunger drives them insane and they approach the wrong part of the herd with insanely protective mothers.

    I have also seen hunting groups of lions losing one of their more 'daring' ones to buffalo horns. It's often the lion that jumps on top that gets the shitty end of the deal.

    I got so sad watching the mighty lion struggle so badly. Poor thing looked so out of shape. It ain't right.
