doostAn, stop with the emotional outbursts! I was surprised at some of the
lopsided victory predictions before the game. If anyone has failed, it is us
fans for not thiking with our heads. All you had to do was to listen to Branco:
"Realistically, we need ten points to qualify". All Branco wanted from this
game was to get points. We didn't play to win. We played not to lose.
That was our plan, and we achieved what we'd set out to do. Sure! This
kind of game is never "pretty", but our purpose is not to play pretty (and
perhaps risk losing), but to do what it takes to qualify. Like you, I didn't
enjoy watching this game, but I am content with the outcome. Maybe
because I knew this was exactly how we were going to play. We all know
we can play much better than this, and we will ... in Tehran.

It's a six-game series, and each game requires its own unique strategy. If
anything, I have to say that I'm pleased with the facts that our players are
maturing enough to stick to their game plan, avoiding playing emotionally.
We, the fans, need to learn to use our logic instead of our emotions, too.

Yep,im in the same camp of thinking.

Yet I dont think that Branko wanted so many misplaced passes, and failed dribblings.

Overall i think he will be happy.

eshghi jan,
if getting a draw was our TM's target, then we have to be worried.
cuz there is no way we defeat japan both in japan and in Iran. so that leaves us getting points from N.Korea, the team that almost tied Japan today.

If we continue playing like this(atleast against Bahrain), Japan and Bahrain will get our spot in first 2, not us.:(

i am more than content with the result! i think we are very lucky we didnt lose!

on the other hand, i think we could have gone about getting a draw a lot better than keep losing control of the ball every single time!

Ali Im with you.

Niloufar,we both know that Bahrain was a good team,so getting a result in Manama is a good result.Lets be content, cause we will playe better in the future.

Btw,we dont have to beat Japan to qualify. We can get one point off Japan, beat Bahrain, and get 6 points off NK to still get 11 points in the group and qualify.

I don't think the main issue is the result here. The result is definitely acceptable, an away tie, nothing bad about it. But it's the performance and lack of desire that most people are questioning. I think the best questoin at this point should be: "can we beat Japan at home with this kinda performance?", and if not, what needs to change?

Exacty as u said Bauvafa jan, we r not sure if we'll play better in next games or not.

Babak, maybe Im so pessimistic and maybe I believe too much on Japan's strength but I dont think we can get any point off Japan(both home and away).we just have to make sure we beat Bahrain in Azadi.thats our key to qualify/not qualify.

Yeah, I don't think anyone is concerned about the result. Had we FOUGHT to a goalless draw, I would be satisfied. But what the hell was this?!!!

It's a six-game series doostAn. You don't plan how to play Japan in the
game against Bahrain. You plan one game at a time. I know if we play
"like this" against Japan, we're in trouble, but we're not going to play
like that. The game against Japan is a different game, with different
tactics, and different goals. Hopefully, we will do what we set out to
do in that game, too. I am confident you will see a very different
game from Iran in six weeks.

I agree that we could have still played better today. With more time
and playing together, I think we will. Our game plan today went against
our natural abilities, and I think that had a lot to do with some of the
problems. Once we're back into our natural attacking mold (against Japan),
I think we will all see the great potential of our team be realized.
