this was then
and this is now: 'when the looting starts, the shooting starts'
so far 1 dead and 7 injured according to the censored media.
The point is not lost on anybody reasonable that politicians can be hypocratic.
However, drawing exact parallels is neither accurate nor helpful.
People in Charge of IRI, China, Russian and ... are very enthusiastic about people's ability to riot and in western cities.
The important point to remember is the public in developed world generally turns against protesters (upgraded rioters).
Because Authorities can paint those in the streets as the "other". either white supremacists, or antifa, black panthers.
and once you see your streets on fire you generally want law and order back.
in places like Iran that is not the case. a great bit (if not big majority) of the population is behind protesters for quite a while
and even when they turn violent and cause senseless destruction they tend to believe that it was all an inside job.
In the Western world people have a lot of distrust toward their central government.
But people are relatively satisfied with their local authorities. This is not the case in Iran.
