US courts sentences Iranian to 23 months over sanctions evasion

The founder and CEO of an Iranian financial services firm was handed a 23-month jail sentence in the US yesterday for conspiring to evade sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Seyed Sajjad Shahidian, 33, was convicted of conspiracy to defraud and commit offences against the US for his activities with his company, Payment24.

“Shahidian was the founder and CEO of a financial services firm that employed a variety of fraudulent tactics designed to circumvent United States sanctions lawfully imposed on Iran”, US Attorney Erica MacDonald was quoted by Agence France Presse (AFP) as saying.

“Such actions are criminal and threaten our national security interests”, she added, “Mr Shahidian had been a high-profile executive and a millionaire. He is now a convicted felon who has lost everything.”

Prosecutors said the primary service of Payment24 was a system that allowed Iranian customers to make illegal online purchases of computer software, licences and servers from the US.

In order to circumvent sanctions, Shahidian had used fraudulent passports to set up hundreds of PayPal accounts that purported to be customers outside Iran.

Clients were given access to one of these accounts, a fraudulent ID card and address receipt, a remote IP address from the United Arab Emirates and a Visa gift card.

Payment24’s customers were also given advice on how to avoid restrictions on foreign websites and warned to “never attempt to log into those sites with an Iranian IP address,” the Justice Department said.

Everything you just said is befitting the wh@re who gave birth to you..
Fair play, you win. I can't lower myself to your level of abject bi-farhangness to insult your mother.

Golden Dawn is not a neo-nazi party. The rallies and salutes I photoed are all photoshops. The quotes are fake news. Behrooz is a nice guy who cares about people.

You started the swearing and when you get the same treatment you play the "I am morally superior to you" card.
Typical big mouth with nothing to contribute to a debate.

It's a tough world for a lot of people at the moment, but it's hard to feel sorry for anyone more than the likes of you. You are so confused and scared.

I'm still perplexed about your argument though. So their statements about racial purity, all the quotes from the leaders and supporters, the nazi salutes at every rally etc...., can you explain with your font-size that makes it seem like your shouting at everyone, how this isn't a neo nazi group?

Imagine, the markets in Iran are littered with Iranian-made clothes and shoes. But nobody buys them and those who do don't like to admit it. They are usually from the very poor class in the society. People prefer Turkish and Thailand made fakes. You wear a pair of Iranian made shoes and your feet break out in blisters after only a week.

Funnier than that is for any product to even attract the poor and the desperate, they have to stick a face adidas or Nike etc logo on it.

Even those shitty made Iranian dollar-store items are no longer viable. Even something as simple as a plastic Aftabeh is hard to produce because the plastic molding machines cannot be serviced. The parts cannot be imported and even if you somehow manage to smuggle them in, the price is hefty enough to make the end product too expensive to sell.

They're closing down one after another.

Armenia Wants Iran's Help, Azerbaijan Says US, Russia, France Not Doing Enough to End Conflict

Armenia is seeking Iran's support in pressuring Azerbaijan, while Azerbaijan also appreciates the Islamic Republic's diplomatic overtures. Both believe that international guarantors France, Russia and the United States are not doing enough to end the conflict in the South Caucasus region.

In comments delivered to Newsweek, Armenian ambassador to the U.S. Varuzhan Nersesyan responded to the Iranian offer.

"We value Iran's balanced approach and efforts towards the peaceful solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, which has been ongoing since 1991," Nersesyan said. "Iran is a neighboring country to Armenia and Azerbaijan, and it shares its borders with the Republic of Artsakh."

top moola has a relevant question from the french youth

Young French people!

Ask your President why he supports insulting God’s Messenger in the name of freedom of expression. Does freedom of expression mean insulting, especially a sacred personage? Isn’t this stupid act an insult to the reason of the people who elected him?

The next question to ask is: why is it a crime to raise doubts about the Holocaust? Why should anyone who writes about such doubts be imprisoned while insulting the Prophet (pbuh) is allowed?
