As I've said before, rankings and medals in the competitions like Asian games or the Olympics are pure joke for the most part and artificially inflated to both attract more audience and to give advantage to certain countries.
The problem is they don't attract more audience. They actually lose a lot of potential audience by making every event less meaningful than it should be.
I agree that speed and endurance should have no more than 2-3 categories each.
Running for example should have 100m and 400m (for speed) and 1500m for endurance. That's it.
For swimming there should be 3 events only: 100m (for extreme speed), 400m (mandatory mix of styles) and 800m (for endurance).
Shooting should be completely eliminated (WTF is this shit with those paintball guns? It looks stupid)
Archery should have 1 medal.
Gymnastics should have a single medal (sum of points in all categories). It's so stupid to see a 13 year old girl do two jumps over some retarded looking device (Kharak) that no one has easy access to and cry with a Gold medal on her chest! WTF?!
Weightlifting, wrestling, martial arts and all those weight-categorized sports should only have 2 different weight categories. (little, big). Weightlifting should only have 1 medal for each weight.
All team sports medals should count as 3 or 4 medals.
