it is disheartening to see many folks who can dissect and EPL game on this forum.
yet they are at a loss when it comes to realm of politics.
Trump not attacking iran (and leaking it right away) is not all about personal ego or wisdom.
since the old days U.S military doctrine has called upon the United States being able to conduct two simultaneous wars.
the Iraq and Afghanistan experience did not go over well.
It is evident that United States can inflict massive damage on iran or on almost any other other country.
yet that conflict is not without cost and the U.S big thinkers for a long while have been concerned about a long protracted
conflict with Iran and what it means about the U.S' ability to project power in the rest of the world.
one fleet of the U.S navy can blockade china's eastern and southern ports.
in the event of long conflict with iran, what happens to the U.S ability to defend Taiwan in case of a land invasion ...
stop personalizing issues.
In the event of a long conflict with Iran or any other country, the US military budget and man-power can very realistically triple overnight. There is absolutely no doubt about the outcome of a real conventional war between the USA and another country (or multiple countries) that involves war-time governance and policies. It would be foolish to even suggest USA as a whole(government+people) lacks the willingness to engage and win a war without 2nd thought.
Historically, USA has done extremely well during big wars and the country's economy, morale and outlook get a massive boost whenever destiny calls for full engagement.
Having said that, in the case of Iran, a couple of aircraft careers and some reinforcements in the already established bases in the middle east would suffice to attain complete air-superiority over Iran within a matter of days. From then on, it's a matter of "Sir, do you want the missile-sites to be destroyed using yellow bombs or purple ones?"
It doesn't take much for USA to rule the skies of any country except Russia.
