From the other thread....this movie was in the last Fajr festival. It's won several awards, including best supporting actor and actress and the viewers' best film. I just watched it last night. Not bad at all. I recommend it.

so i was surfing glwiz last night and watched an iranian
film called 'spider'.it's based on a real story about some ultra
orthodox guy who goes on a serial killing of 16 prostitutes to clean
the city(mashhad) a few years ago.he got a lot of support from
the religious community after he was arrested but eventually was
convicted and executed.

i actually thought this is the film that's in competition in cannes
right now called 'holly spider' directed by an iranian who lives in
denmark but i was totally wrong.they are 2 different films but about
the same true story.

the iranian one was made 2 years ago but the iranian/danish one
was made this year and is making a lot of noise and might get a
prize at cannes :p

After many years I watched the first Iranian movie called ballad of a white cow, I thought the acting and videography was fantastic.

Khatoon. Great series, with pretty accurate depiction of historical circumstances of Iran during WWII.
Yupp,finished it recently. Not bad.

Now everyone is talking about "Jeyran". It's about Nasereddin shah's favorite wife. From what I hear, it's supposed to be quite exciting.

She is such a good actress, pretty much every film I've seen her in she stands out. Even in that Tehran Taboo animated rotoscope one she really was amazing.

I was genuinely worried that IR would destroy her after the sex tape from her early twenties but somehow she evaded the tentacles and now has become a real star

and now for something completely different.
youtube threw it at me last night!

an iranian play perfomred in broken english in tehran.
it's kind of funny but the best part is the sexy girl going
'do you wanna taste it' starting around 9:00 minute

Why would they perform a theater in English in Tehran?! For whom?!!

the latest iranian animation is a hit in russia and probably
coming to the usa if they can pass under the radar of the
u-know-whos as a non-iranian production:ROFLMAO:

What makes you think it's Iranian? The director, the producer and the composer have Iranian names but the writer and all the cast have Russian names:

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt18526902/

And by the way it's received the grade of 6.1 out of 10 by the people. Nothing spectacular about it.

ok if it makes you feel better it's actually a mongolian production :ROFLMAO:

but the reality makse you feel bad since this is an animation, no cast.
the cast is the voice and of course they are russians who speak the russian
translation of the script done by a russian :p

If it was an Iranian production, the original Iranian cast (the original voices) would have been in imdb. Not the ones with Russian translation. ;)
