I think Jafar Panahi is or better to say has became a storyteller, than a filmmaker.
Short films are today's medium of choice for inventive storytellers but he is doing that because of all sanctions around him (denial of civil rights, including 20 years of NOT to making movies) which means all he can/want do.
Today, it's easier than ever to make a film, new technologies like processing the captured clip or video directly with help of a PC and other media has made it even easier especially if you know and have the knowledge to how to do it.
Making a film is divided into three stages;

I am certainly sure that he instead of breaking down and being captured by anger just making low production "obviously ridiculous" movie to go on fighting for his rights.
Inside Iran, he has been jailed, he's not allowed to make movie (which he love to do), there is a conversation with a lady (I do not know her name) about Evin prison and politically jailed people in the same movie.
What more do you expect from him?

well many say this was politically motivated, and i think it was politically motivated as well. i am not a movie critic and I have not seen the movie or other movies in the Berlin Festival to know this, BUT is there a small chance that this was actually a good movie and it was picked by the jury as the righteous winner?!? And this was just a coincidence that it was Panahi's movie!!!
