This is from few days ago, but its an interesting read. What are your thoughts on who is/are the losers of Iran's protests in recent days?

i think the ultimate losers of the protests are people who were too scared to support their fellow countrywomen/men.

akhounds lost some ground but ultimately the millions of silent indifferents that are more interested in drugs lost. Those who died, died for what they stood for. Those who stood and hit back did it for their families, and maybe country. Those who sat home are either well off or well scared.

but i can understand their mentality since when gaav o goosale were saying allah o akbar khomeini rahbar in 1978-9 i don't recall any of my family joining the AR AR.

definitely not the 3 groups mentioned

and jew york times is not left, it's liberal. big difference.
Well Eslahtalabs definitely showed their true face in these protests. They not only didnt defend ppl's rights to protest, they also called them "Ashoobgar" and called for their arrests! While during election they claim ppl's right for freedom, etc!! So the article is right about that.

As for New York Times, Liberal or left, its still sad how they reported the protests too late, as if nothing has happened.

So true Keyvan jan. Shows us that well-off ppl inside Iran(whether they are well-off from years ago or in recent years) have no problem with other ppl's struggles, and social injustices, as long as they make their money. Which is so sad.. + They know they cant make as much money in corrupted way in well-managed economy of future Iran.

the 79 revolution was an opportunistic event whose basic fundamentals were built on for years by communists, clergy and traitors like Sanjaabi, Forouhar and Bazargaan.

they utilized on people's emotions (and the general Zeitgeist of the decade) and mistakes of the previous regime to fool people into forcing the monarchy out.

the late protests are not planned in anyway. Spontaneous combustion due the very harsh, inhuman conditions for large segments of the population in Iran. No matter what they won.

As a human being as long as you can stand up for what you believe in you have won, regardless of the results as sad and disappointing they maybe.

you can be sitting in penthouse in san francisco or a beach property in orange county or a palace in kuwait and not even understand what being iranian really means.

they showed that they are rolling in poverty but still know what being human and iranian means.

and some of these kos khols mentioned 'what if iran becomes syria', 'what if there is a civil war?' first of all that was very very unlikely if the protests were supported and had gathered mass support. Already on the last day of demos there were bassij units that were joining with people.

secondly, it is good to assess every situation in one's life but once you start running your life on 'what ifs' then you (i mean rhetorical you) are dead as a human being.
you have stopped to live and you are just existing. in case millions of iranians Subsisting.

PS: Even Wall Street Journal which is riight wing was covering the regime's protests as opposed to the people's. They love to show those black clad women and Mullahs even when talking about the dissidents.

They did not lose however. Rouhani is the only guy coming out of this stronger than before. Showed their face or not or whatever. It's bullshit to say that Rouhani lost anything.

Because it's the New York Times. It's a shit paper with crooks in the editorial board. Go read the article that bastard Friedmann wrote about MbS. If it was for them, Iran would be next to be attacked and therefore it doesn't fit in their narrative that there is anything going on there.

Rohani lost most of his supporters even from hacks like Zibakalam. The only people who like him are the Eslah talab haaye hokoomati and the Larijani clan. Nobody "cuts any leeks for him" anymore.

Obviously people who lost most are the people who lost their life.
20 folks in the street and 5 thus in prison.

It's a tragic affair.

Rohani will not be up for reelection, so, sorry to say, his supporters among the people are irrelevant to him. Inside the regime, he got stronger. He is now the horse they will rather bet on. And lots of people will care less about it because Rohani will bring all the neoliberal reforms lots of people, especially in cities ask for. The problem will be that in 3 years time, we will have another AN person coming up.

I'm not saying that Rohani is a great leader or whatever. But he is not up for reelection and the only thing that matters to him is the internal position inside the regime and with Raissi out of the picture, his position got stronger. That's not up for discussion I guess.

I think the real winners are the people of Iran, whether they came out or not, although many did and did so bravely in small cities and towns too. Every average person now knows the true nature of the regime and the puppet show of reformist and radicals, all elements of the same puppet show. People of Iran many of whom had fantecized about an Islamic government now most likely believe in secular governance. Therefore, they are the true winners because the days between now and free and secular government in Iran are fewer than before.

The loss is with the regime and the so called "moderates" because there can be no moderation in tyranny and injustice. Any amount of it is bad! The biggest loss rests with those elements who resorted to violence or propagated violence to blame it on the people. This is why people must be so vigilant against any form of violence and take great care to present their ideas and fight in a peaceful way that is consistent with their values and ideals and not those of the Islamic republic. This is their greatest protection against being the victims of violence. Their other great protection is their numbers. A large peaceful gathering of people is less likely to be attacked and draws more international support too. One day or night people will come out and stay out until the land is freed from opression and injustice!

Rohani will be just like Khatami & AN after their terms. Sitting in his home and every once in a while regurgitating BS and some morons will cheer him on. That is about it.

there is no will be. he already is. he has been in power for some years. gohi gharaar bood bokhore taaa alaan khorde bood ( i don't mean his supper and lunch)

there is footage of him right after the revolution encouraging people to attack retired army officers, put them in jail, cut off their pension (or reduce it) and this is right after the Army declared their disgraceful neutrality and paving the road for the islamic revolution. how he treats his friends don't like to be his enemy.

any personality coming up in due process of the islamic republic is a traitor to Iran and Iranian people. there is no middle ground here.
