yes we did.well not infront of 100,000 ppl really.

We hosted Japan in Azadi once in Jan 20,1989 in a Friendly game and tied 2-2(0-1 in first half).
Few days later on Jan22 we played them again in Ahwaz in a Friendly game again and lost 3-1(we were 1-0 ahead in first half).

After that,Game venues were either in other countries or in Japan not in Azadi.

Last 2 times I can remember Iran played Japan we tied. They have not played in Azadi for a very long time.
Also they beat us in 1997 WCQ, and we beat them in 1993 WCQ. If they had won that match against us that year, they would have qualified.
