Well, I try and separate the athlete from his personal beliefs but I can see how that irked some people. I respect Rezadadeh for one thing, he did not sell out when Turkey and the USA wanted him bad. They offered him some nice contracts, I believe Turkey was offering something like $10,000,000 and a water front property/villa. I think the US offered something similar. He decided to remain in Iran and live a humble life. I respect him for that because most athletes would have taken the money. He pointed out that it was a pleasure and an honor to lift for Iran. You got to give Rezazadeh some respect for that. By the way, I think he wore those ya Abolfaz shirts because he named his son Abolfaz. Rezazadeh just happens to be a religious guy but he is not one of those Mullah crooks, at least I do not think he is like that.

He deserved plenty of money. but repeated meeting with politicians and people like Ahmadinejad tricking him really damaged his reputation.

I do not know the full story of what happened and how Rezazadeh went from National Hero to a damaged reputation. Certainly meetings with people like Ahmadinejad was a blunder and I bet if he could do things differently he would. I also happen to think that maybe Rezazadeh is not the most politically sophisticated guy in the world. He probably thought nothing of it or it is just no big deal. He deserved money and I do not think he got that much, I think he has a very humble two bedroom apartment in Babolsar. It does not take a genius to put two and two together, that means he got paid peanuts. Rezazadeh's story is like a Greek trajedy, if he was in any other country, he and his entire family would have been set for life. This is why athletes leave Iran for the West the first chance they get. If ESPN ever did a 30 for 30 on Rezazadeh(highly doubt it) the title should be, "The Rise and Fall of Rezazadeh."
