Why only one game Toofan jan?

I was thinking to go but then some usual stuff in life(work, etc) and changed my mind lol.

btw, I moved the thread to football forums so more people can view it.

I'd love to go as Russia is so close but none of my closest friends are interested in spending money for live football. I also figured, it's gonna be hell of a chaos, too much traffic and too many people everywhere at that time. It may be more comfortable to just go out to downtown here and watch it in big screen with fellow Iranians/Swedes!

I say if you can afford to do it, then by all means do it. As a football fan, one should try to make it to at least one WC event while you are still young. Life is too short.

St. Petersburg and Moscow are supposedly amazing, but expensive as heck.
I don't disagree that there are Russian "things" that are simply amazing and worth visiting.

The thing is, if you want to go to St. Petersburg and Moscow for their historic and cultural significance, the city needs to be in the right mood. It has to be normal for you as a tourist to appreciate it. These cities will be like zoos during World Cup and almost every experience will be tainted by insane levels of commercialism. It's not a good idea to mix tourism with World-Cup.

I also generally hate crowds.

@Real Madrid Na Zdrovie Slava Cistera's, ya lyublyu tebya, YPA! I wish I could go to Russia but my dad pointed out that plane tickets to Russia, for the World Cup will be probably close to $5,000. Last time I went to Russia, with a Government discount, the hotels cost $350 a night, back in the 2000s so it will cost more. The cities are also far apart so travel is going to be tough. I think I am going to sit out Russia and definitely Qatar, for other reasons. I will watch Iran in the WC hopefully 12 years from now. For everyone enjoy, na zrovie Armija Krassnay lmao these are regular Russian army girls, think how hot their models are. Why Russia is #1 and certainly so many beautiful things to see, beat that USA. BTW Old friend, why are you going all the way to Russia for one game? Bache Tehroon are you sure Russia is so boring, three words, Slava Rus booty! For those of you going, enjoy my beloved Slava Rassia, Team Melli, and stay safe.

That is not true about plane tickets. Also, Russia is providing free train rides for Fans.

Apparently you can get on train from UK to Russia for free -> https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/4654273/world-cup-2018-russia-free-trains-england/

I went to Brazil during 2014 world cup and despite massive crowds i enjoyed every bit of it!
if anything they had extra security which did put me at ease travelling alone. My only regret is not staying longer (only stayed 12 days) !

I did not know about the train ride, that is very good and can cut on expense. Now I looked here are plane tickets during normal, off season times $700 $1200 should do it. It will be summer time so that will increase it and the world cup but probably not as much as I think. MAYBE, just MAYBE if I get some more work, go from PT to Full time, I can go to Russia after all. It seems like tickets for games at Stubhub are anywhere from $194 for Morocco and $260 for Spain, not bad at all. I would love to watch Team Melli and Die Mannschaft. Oh and as for security, you will be safe my friend, the FSB is not going to allow anything to happen to tourists, during the World Cup, they don't bad publicity. If the draw for tickets are over, I can always go through a third party, like stubhub, at least they have Iran tickets for a reasonable price.
