Iran lost 2nd set 18-25. Not a good performance overall, we always suffer against France somehow. Never beat them.

iran did win in straight sets but after dropping the first 2 sets.
iran started brightly but lost a hard fought first set 27-29.
in the 2nd set iran coach started experimenting and brought in #7
who was a total bust and disrupted the flow of the set in favor of canada.
in the 3rd set he made his key change which was replacing the libero who
had a hard time in receiving and brought back the rest of the starting line up
from the first set.that change worked like magic and iran won the next 3 sets
and won the match.it also helped iran that canada was coming off a 2-3 loss
in less then 24 hours.they ran out of steam in the 4th and 5th sets.
today is an off day and next up is france for iran.if iran can beat them, unlikely,
they can book their tickets for rio.a point would be valuable.
iran did not show up for france and it probably would not have
mattered if they showed up.the boys were saving themselves for
the next 2 matches that are the semi-final and the final for them.
beat japan in the semis and china in the final and they qualify for rio.
that's the sum of it.

Next game is tomorrow morning against Japan and good news is Ghafour is back, we should get maximum of 3 points. Match against China is pivot, if we beat them we are through...

France beat Australia 3-1 but it seems Aussie gave them really hard time, last set ended 44-42 for France, never saw this score in Volleyball before.

That is from FIVB website and no where it says that second best Asian team can't qualify among top 4

The FIVB Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament will take place in Japan and doubles as the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament. The best ranked Asian team and the top three ranked teams will qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. If an Asian team is ranked among the top three, then the next ranked team will be qualified.

There is still confusion how many Asian teams advance. According to this more than one Asian team can advance, which is fair enough, both China and Aussie are great teams and Asia as i said deserves more than one. then you have a tournament, between Chile, Algeria, Tunisia and Mexico and one advance, seriously?

I hear you man. The 2nd qualifying tournament is an insult to all the teams in this tournament. All the teams are good, but Chile, Algeria, Tunisia and Mexico are no where close to France, Poland, Iran, Australia, Canada or China.

iran wins the semi-final against the host with authority even though
they did not have a great day offensively.but their blocking of the short
japan team saved the day and the 3 points are in the bag.
next up in the final is china.much more height than japan and a better
team overall.they are coming off a tough 2-3 loss to poland which means
they are as tired if not more tired than the the iranian boys.iran needs to
find it's offensive rhythm back and they need #10 for this match to put
pressure on chinese blockers.it's not going to be easy but iran should win
it since they got the better coaching.

Iran didn't play well yesterday, Japanese other than their Captain who was a world class player were a short and an average team. I expect a tough game against China which is much better team compare to Japan and so far was best Asian team, they gave Poland really hard time yesterday and almost won it.

Iran won first set 25-23 vs China and leading second one 8-5, blockers are performing fine for Iran tonight.

China won second set 25-22. Iran had 3 points lead at some point but too many mistakes on serving and Ghaemi and Zarif had hard time to control China's #7 sets. Ghaemi was poor in this game. I don't go Lozano's subs in crucial moments to replace Marouf and Mousavi with Mahdavi and Mirzajanpour
