Iran wins 4 medals, 2 gold and 2 silver and finish 1st. Great achievement, specially with aging Olympics athletes in GR and lack of depth in this field.

1. Iran, 68 points (2 gold, 2 silver, 0 bronze)
2. Azerbaijan, 63 (1-2-2)
3. Turkey, 63 (0-1-5)
4. Russia, 62 (1-2-4)
5. Armenia, 41 (0-0-3)
6. Georgia, 30 (2-0-0)

What is interesting and worrying at same time is Turkey is back on right track since last few years. so now our rival is not only Russia, is Azerbaijan and Turkey and Georgia as well..
We had 4 medals but Turkey had 6 and Russia 7...

Free-Style cadet team sucked, despite 1 gold and 2 silvers they finished 7th, India and Japan finished ahead of us, in 100 kg they didn't show up against Israeli wrestler and lost a sure bet medal becasue of that

2. United States, 67 (3-1-3)
3. Azerbaijan, 47 (1-1-2)
4. Georgia, 47 (1-0-2)
5. Japan, 42 (0-0-1)

Hi Babr,

I typically post on persianfootball.com but there isn't a big wrestling following there (perhaps for obvious reasons).

If you're a member there then check out my posts (same username as here).

I too was a little disappointed with the showing in freestyle after a great day one.

Don't know much about our 100kg guy but the American was a reigning cadet WC so not sure if it would have been a sure thing but I'll take your word for it.

Only a few tournaments of note for the remainder of the year so perhaps not too much to post about but I look forward to chatting with you about wrestling in the future.

Salam Khosro jan,

Thanks for your post and welcome back.

I am not saying he sure could win a gold but had a shot for a medal which could change our positioning in standing.

Cheers
