IranNewsAgency on July 21,2008

I could have gussed that Saeed Jalili would not have made any commitment as he did not have authority to make any binding commitment at such an important meeting. I think even his boss (Mottaki) or his boss' boss (Ahmadinejad) do not have authority to make an such important commitment or promise. Such authority rest with KhAmanie. My thought is that he took the messages with him to go back consult, digest and formulate a response.
And most important of all, get approval from KhAmanie to whatever response he is going present in about two weeks.
I think that what he was saying that the diplomacy is a fine art similar to weaving a Persian carpet with a beautiful final product (or something like that).

Does anybody have the text of what JAlali actually said in that meeting?

Then why doesn't Khamenei haul his sorry ass himself to the negotiating table and stop wasting everybody's time? Someone could have been copied this news from 2005 and no one would know. Funny part is everyone around that table know what the game is, buying time, and still go through the charade.

What did she expect?

For Jalili to come and say "Please don't beat us up. We'll stop immediately. Just give us time to pack up our BEEL o KOLANG. Thank you. Come again"??

LOL. Bichareh maadare foolad zereh. ;)
Yeah, I wasn't too optimistic about the negotiations either Rasoul jaan. But I'm counting on your detailed analysis that at least it won't be followed up with an armed conflict. Keeping fingers crossed.

I like to see the orginial English comment that has translated in to "گپ و اختلاط ". With this kind of translation I'm surprised they didn't report her name as: کونده لیسا

This is what she said: "It was also a very strong message to the Iranians that they can't go and stall and make small talk and talk about culture and that they have to make a decision."

as far as کونده لیسا, I actually wouldn't be surprised. I'm sure any position which involves looking at her face will be out of the question for most men! ;)

Does anybody have the text of what JAlali actually said in that meeting?
I don't have the text but I'm fairly certain it went something like this:

5+1: are you ready to suspend your nuclear program? yes or no?

Jalali:
In the name of God the most compassionate the most merciful.

36. Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord:
37. Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive;
38. Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance;
39. And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves.
40. The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. for ((Allah)) loveth not those who do wrong.
41. But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame.
42. The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous.

43. But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs.

Indeed the world is ready and thirsty for a new direction and policy based on justice and equality and the great nation of Iran, god willing with the leadership of imam Mahdi, is ready to lead the way towards a more just world and hopes that the 5+1 will join that path based on the common aspects of the recent proposals that were mentioned by Dr. Ahmadinejad and then more recently by Mr. Solano and agreed by both sides.

5+1: what?!! Was that a yes or no?
Jalali:
Of course Iran agrees on the need for building confidence by both sides and we think that the presence of the US in these meetings is a step forward in that direction. Iran with its glorious history and culture is ready to partner with the rest of the world leaders in helping rid the world of the current injustices and as our great leader recently mentioned the "suspension" is our red line.

5+1: #@$@$@$#!!!

LMAO. And that boys and girls is the dictionary definition of irony. But have no doubt doktor jaan that the penalty will be grievous.

That Mahdi is leading some people in the world in secret?

Looks like Motori was right in his assessment that even with the addition of the US to the negotiating table these talks will not go anywhere. It is quite clear that the Iranian negotiators have been sent as clowns with zero authority and with directions to just tell some stories and stall.

We will shortly see if he is also right that in less than two weeks when these talks also fail then the US will seriously escalate its efforts to topple the regime.
