UAE however was at its heights in the 90s starting by qualification for Italia 90 and then attending the finals of Asian Cup. They have regressed pretty much since. This year though they seem to have a better team specially with their play maker Jimi Hendrix Al Amoudi.
IR has remained stagnant since 98.
They has some sparks of football during the late 90s but those have completely extinguished now.

Queiroz is doing an amazing job with what he has available to him. He has a shit squad and has qualified for the second round not conceding a goal. That is an achievement given how shitty the team plays. Now is this football deserving of Iranian people, under the current system is probably the best they can do.

Under different circumstances, sky would have been the limit with the amount of talent available in that country.

I really like what Queiroz has done with our defence. Our defenders stay in position, they cover the overlap very well. They deal with aerial threats very well. One on one these are some of the best defenders in the history of our football. The real problem is the midfield in my view, we lack a quick play maker really badly, a player that can carry the ball forward and pass as well (e.g. Modric) in order to take advantage of the counter attack.

This team will run into problems against good opposition. They are not cohesive offensively and give away possession unnecessarily in rash attempts to go for the counter attack.

Overall, the attitude of the team is very professional compared to our past teams (full of prima donnas) and they are just more likeable. This is the best defence I've ever witnessed in our TM. I hope they succeed but the fluidity of attack and rate of unforced loss of possession is just abysmal at this stage of the game.

Also, I don't care if someone wants to pray or thank his/her God. But what TM players are doing is way over the top. I am not sure if it is their belief or they are trying to score some brownie points. اصغر شرفی در گفت***وگو با خبرنگار ورزشی خبرگزاری تسنیم ابتدا در مورد تقابل ایران و عراق در مرحله یک چهارم نهایی جام ملت***های ۲۰۱۵ آسیا گفت: در این مرحله و حتی مرحله گروهی تیم***ها تقریباً به هم نزدیک بودند پس ما نباید زیاد به این توجه کنیم که حریف***مان کدام تیم است. ما قرار است با عراق بازی کنیم، تیمی که دو هفته پیش در دیداری دوستانه آن را شکست دادیم. حالا هم می***توانیم این کار را دوباره انجام دهیم و به آن چیزی که می***خواهیم برسیم.

وی با ابراز امیدواری از اینکه تیم ملی فوتبال کشورمان با شکست عراق به مرحله نیمه نهایی جام ملت***های ۲۰۱۵ آسیا صعود کند، افزود: مطمئن باشید سرمربی ایران در این بازی عراق را دستکم نخواهد گرفت.

شرفی در مورد سبک بازی تیم ملی ادامه داد: من فکر می***کنم تعدادی از بازیکنان تیم ملی و همچنین آنهایی که فوتبال را دنبال می***کنند، معتقدند که ایران دفاعی بازی می***کند. این درحالی است که من چنین نظری ندارم و بازیکنان تیم ملی باید این ذهنیت را داشته باشند که بحث انجام کارهای دفاعی در نوع خود یک تاکتیک محسوب می***شود.

مربی تیم ملی فوتبال کشورمان خاطرنشان کرد: مهم این است که در حال حاضر تیم ملی تقریباً با نظم بازی می***کند و نمی***بینید که کسی اضافه***کاری کند. ایده سرمربی تیم ملی این است که اول گل نخوریم و بعد گل بزنیم و فکر می***کنم این تاکتیک در تیم ملی جا افتاده است.

مجتبی جباری اخیرا حرف***هایی را درمورد کی***روش زده و گفته است که تیم ملی ایران هیچ پیشرفتی با این مربی نداشته است. شرفی در مرد حرف***های این بازیکن گفت: تیم ملی در این سال***ها با مربیان مختلف هم نتیجه گرفته، هم نتیجه نگرفته است. به هر حال همین مجتبی جباری با مربیان زیادی کار کرده است و چیزهایی از آنها یاد گرفته است. من دوست ندارم جواب فرد خاصی را بدهم ولی از جباری می***پرسم آیا خودش در این نابسامانی***های فوتبال نقش ندارد؟ آیا فقط باید یک مربی خاص، یک بازیکن خاص یا یک مدیرعامل خاص را مورد انتقاد قرار دهیم؟

وی خاطر نشان کرد: بهتر است کی***روش و جباری به بیرون از ایران بروند تا ببینید چند نفر جباری را می***شناسند. مگر می***شود کی***روش چیزی بلد نباشد؟ کدام مربی می***توانست چنین نظمی را در تیم ملی برقرار کند؟ چه کسی جرأت داشت سیدمهدی رحمتی و چند نفر دیگر را آنطور از تیم ملی کنار بگذارد؟ مگر ندیدید سر بازیکنی مثل رحمتی را چگونه با پنبه برید؟ شما ببینید آندرانیک تیموریان چطور در زمین مسابقه دوندگی دارد ولی در استقلال اینطور نیست. این مسائل به***طور حتم نمی***تواند تصادفی باشد.
