Ok, this is a tough one. Who do you consider the best ever? Well, all the best sucked at atleast at one(grass or clay). Borg was all grass, Sampras and Lendl could never win on clay and neither can Federer it seems. Then there are notables such as Muster, Courier, The Chilean guy whose name escapes me, oh yeah, Marcelo Rios. Mc and Conners are notables but we are talking the best ever, so, That leaves me with either what I have heard about(Laver) or What I've seen(Federer). I have to say, for me Lendl, Sampras and Federer have been the most complete and the most enjoyable players I have ever watched. But I dare say I would consider Sampras as the best. Agassi was the only one to win all 4 slams so he definitely is a candidate for the best. My all time favourite is Edberg with archrival Becker a close second but they never won the french. Hmmmmmm. As much as I disliked him all along, Sampras is in my opinion the best.
Mash Ghasem, as far as Lendl goes, he did win the french open 3 times. It was the mighty grass court of the Wimbledon that failed him 13 times. Lendl was my idle as a tennis player. As far as modern tennis goes, no one is as good as Federer. Sure he has yet to win the French open, but no one not ever Sampras or Agassi could dominate their opponents the way Federer is doing right now.
Although Agassi has won in all surfaces, you have to remember that early in his career it was all about commercials... Agassi did not care too much about the game. It was within the past 7 years or so that he became a very serious tennis player.
Sampras on the other hand was always about business. His concentration level was unbelievable. He would never let anything to distract him as a tennis player, except during the Australian open which his coach Tommy Gullickson had cancer.

well let me say it for the record ,there are 4 other guys beside agassi who won all 4 grand slams ,long time ago ( great rod laver is one of them ) ,but trully Agassi is only won all 4 grand slams on 3 different surfaces ,for instance laver never won a grand slam on a hrad court(sement) .now .only one person has the chance to win it all,is federrer . because he is in era there is no comeptiton like the 90's,80's . it has been time you had like 10 clay specialist ,now you only get nadal ,and couple of outside chances ,now ,you don't have some big serve and vallier ,like ,edberg ,becker ,rafter , samprass , krijeck(ms) , ,now you don't have the big server like , samprass (best server of all time),philopousses , becker ,rafter ,goran ,rosedski ,krijeck ,,you don't have the hard hitter like courier ,muster ,agassi ,so in other words the time of great players is over ,and the road is open for federrer . however still best of all time was Agassi . the guy missed so many grand slams tournament . he lost so many finals which he shouldn't .
