Did the English really invent football?

The English are always quick to claim everything, we all know that. Football being one of them.

Now before I get the debate started , I'd like to make one thing clear, and that is that there is a fine line between inventing something and formalizing it.

For instance we all know that the first ever charter of human right was made during Cyrus the Great's era. Which means the formalization of it does not lead to the ownership of it.

Now regarding the history of football, I found this and this is approved by FIFA president Sepp Blatter;

you make your own mind up , but i think it is fair to say that the Chinese should have a fair claim in this.

there was examples of similar sports to football in other countries but england was the first to officially put the rules together (although the first rules were more like rugby than football)

No doubt. Football the way we know it today, is an english sport. Association football is english. Before the english set the rules and made the game look as it looks today, the game looked like a very rude and dangerous kind of rugby and people even died during a football match. This is not the first time some people try to discredit the english because of an odd deep rooted hate towards them.

Baalaa beri paain biaay, 20 saatam paaye internet google koni, todays football remain an english sport :)
