Manchester United and Arsenal return to domestic action on Sunday after contrasting Champions League fortunes in midweek.
The Gunners crashed out of the competition after losing 5-3 on aggregate to Liverpool while United eased into the last four with a straightforward success against AS Roma.
Arsene Wenger still believes his side can clinch their first Premier League title since 2004 but, with only five games of the season remaining, they travel to Old Trafford six points behind Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
Wenger appeared to have conceded the title after his side's 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, but United's failure to beat Middlesbrough on Sunday handed the Frenchman renewed optimism.
However, the manner of his side's 4-2 defeat at Anfiield will take a lot of getting over, and it would appear that the title race is now between United and Chelsea.
Rio Ferdinand recovered from the foot injury he sustained on Teesside to play in the midweek clash with Roma and should be fit enough to face the Gunners but his regular defensive partner Nemanja Vidic once again misses out with a knee injury.
Darren Fletcher (knee) and Louis Saha (hamstring) also remain on the sidelines. However, Gary Neville and Mikael Silvestre could feature after recovering from long-term injuries to play against Serie A's second-placed side on Wednesday.
Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is convinced his side can bounce back from their Merseyside disappointment, saying: "The most important thing now is to stay focused on what we can achieve this season.
"We are still playing for the title and we still believe we can win something at the end of the season "It is better now to focus on the game on Sunday. It will be another big game for us and we will see what we can do." Tomas Rosicky is not expected to play again this season because of a troublesome hamstring problem while Eduardo's campaign was ended by Birmingham City defender Martin Taylor's reckless challenge in February.
However, there is some good news for Wenger as Bacary Sagny could return to action on Sunday after recovering from an ankle injury.
Last season at Old Trafford, Arsenal won 1-0 thanks to Adebayor's late goal.
