This US withdrawal process could of been handled better to avoid what we are witnessing today. But at the end of the day the US had to withdraw, 2 trillion dollars spent and they couldn't rebuild a country and build a formidable army. The issue with Afghanistan's army is that they have no national identity so they are not loyal or dedicated to protecting their country. Afghans have more of a tribal and religious identity so that's where the Taliban excels. Iran would be the same if it wasn't because of Reza Shah.

نجیب‌الله پس از انقلاب ثور و شکل‌گیری جمهوری دموکراتیک افغانستان، در زمان حاکمیت حفیظ‌الله امین، سفیر افغانستان در ایران شد. در حکومت ببرک کارمل به عنوان رئیس خدمات امنیت دولتی برگزیده گردید و یکی از اعضای شاخهٔ حزب دموکراتیک خلق افغانستان بود. او پیش از سقوط کابل در سال ۱۹۹۶، به سازمان ملل متحد تقاضای پناهندگی کرد که به او اعطا شد.
نجیب در ساختمان سازمان ملل متحد بود که سربازان طالبان در شب ۲۶ سپتامبر ۱۹۹۶ او را از سازمان ملل ربوده و به مرگ شکنجه کردند، سپس جسد او را در پشت خودرویی بستند و در خیابان‌های کابل به نمایش گذاشتند. سرنوشت برادر او، شهپور احمدزی، نیز همانگونه بود. طالبان روز بعد به منظور نشان دادن به مردم که یک دورهٔ جدید آغاز شده، اجساد نجیب و شاهپور را در روبروی کاخ ریاست جمهوری ارگ (چهارراه آریانا) بر روی تیرهای چراغ راهنمایی آویزان کردند. طالبان مانع برگزاری مراسم تشییع جنازه، خواندن نماز و غسل میت برای نجیب‌الله و شاهپور در کابل شدند. اجساد آنها بعداً به کمیته ی بین المللی صلیب سرخ تحویل داده شد و پس از آن به گردیز در ولایت پیکتیا انتقال یافت، جایی که اقوام احمدزی پس از خواندن نماز و اجرای مراسم تشییع جنازهٔ اسلامی برای محمد نجیب‌الله و برادرش شاهپور احمدزی آِن دو را به خاک سپردند.

The whole idea is to further destabilize a key region of Chinese Silk Road until America catches up with alternative plans. Expect a major war breaking out in the region within a year or two.

the reality is the elites in America had decided Afghanistan was a bad idea back in 2010.
They kept searching for a way to "safely" withdraw their forces. but they finally realized there is no way. and just pulled the plug.
yes the whole processed proved that American policy makers don't give a rat's ass about lives of ordinary brown people over on the other side of the world.
but nobody will learn, they will keep on trying to go make Raiesi Dadgahi in Netherlands or this and that place.
