He's been saying the same for the past many years. What he doesn't say is more important to me.

Iranians have come to the realization that they don't want an Islamic Republic. Their beef is with the "Islamic" portion of Republic. I don't know if he is afraid to say it or just ignorant (he always starts with "be name hazrate hagh"). This regime is not fixable or reformable. You can't put enough lipstick on this pig anymore. He is still talking about some course correction and reforms. That shit has ran its course. Iranians experimented with that crap and failed miserably.

The Islamic Republic's sole existence is based on theocratic and ideological platforms. You take those away and you have a completely new system. Which other parts of Islamic Republic can be fixed by reforms? Reform is to take the word Islamic out of Republic. and take "marg bar Amrica" and hijab away and you are done with this regime in its entirety. That is what people want.

This guy is still pinning his hope on reformists. As long as "eslah-talaban" such as Mousavi and Khatami, don't renounce religion and clearly state that Islam shouldn't have a role in the regime (which is something they would never say), they won't be having any popular support.

RP is the only viable choice because most majority of Iranians can relate to his message. Eslah-talaban can all go kick rocks.

Reform is dead.
So is the Islamic regime, and other iterations of it, such as the MEK that tries to combine two bankrupt autocratic ideologies: Marxism and Islamism. And absolutely, Prince Reza’s viewpoints coincide with modernity and resonate with people of Iran on secularism, freedom, democracy and equal rights and responsibilities of all citizens. For instance he said about the MEK that he can’t see them having an open discourse and discussion with the rest of the nation, while men sit on one side, women on the other, clad in Islamic veil all wearing the same colour, they don’t even have freedom in their expression of individual taste for clothing and seating arrangement, let alone opinions, perceptions and viewpoints. As they say in financial markets, all these factors have already been priced into the Iranian society, and although brutal repression of the Islamic regime and its stifling of the news media and a free national discourse stops its natural expression for now, no amount of force and suppression can delay the inevitable forever. Before long, the new way of thinking, the new ideas and realities will be made manifest and bear fruits.

Iran, Saudi Arabia agree to resume ties, with China’s help

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed Friday to reestablish diplomatic relations and reopen embassies after seven years of tensions. The major diplomatic breakthrough negotiated with China lowers the chance of armed conflict between the Mideast rivals — both directly and in proxy conflicts around the region.

The deal, struck in Beijing this week amid its ceremonial National People’s Congress, represents a major diplomatic victory for the Chinese as Gulf Arab states perceive the United States slowly withdrawing from the wider Middle East. It also comes as diplomats have been trying to end a long war in Yemen, a conflict in which both Iran and Saudi Arabia are deeply entrenched.

The two countries released a joint communique on the deal with China, which brokered the agreement as President Xi Jinping was awarded a third five-year term as leader earlier Friday.
