So is the Islamic regime, and other iterations of it, such as the MEK that tries to combine two bankrupt autocratic ideologies: Marxism and Islamism. And absolutely, Prince Reza’s viewpoints coincide with modernity and resonate with people of Iran on secularism, freedom, democracy and equal rights and responsibilities of all citizens. For instance he said about the MEK that he can’t see them having an open discourse and discussion with the rest of the nation, while men sit on one side, women on the other, clad in Islamic veil all wearing the same colour, they don’t even have freedom in their expression of individual taste for clothing and seating arrangement, let alone opinions, perceptions and viewpoints. As they say in financial markets, all these factors have already been priced into the Iranian society, and although brutal repression of the Islamic regime and its stifling of the news media and a free national discourse stops its natural expression for now, no amount of force and suppression can delay the inevitable forever. Before long, the new way of thinking, the new ideas and realities will be made manifest and bear fruits.
