Has international football changed to be more counter attacking?

I ran across this article and posted it up on the site because I thought it was interesting. Most of us criticized the team for playing so defensive but now that a week or so has passed and we can look back on it I think our players did an exceptional job of closing the gaps and attacking when they could. One of the main things we lacked on this team was speed and a player or two who had speed and skill. Nekounam has lost a few steps and so has Shojaei but when he was on the field he always collected fouls. If he had some pace he would have been dangerous. We were really missing the pace of a player like Khalatbari and the crossing ability of a Mahdavikia. I actually think we might be a few players away from being a top team in Asia.

Anyways, any thoughts on this article?
