I had an IT man (someone who purported to be an IT professional) transfer my files from my old computer to the new one. Somehow during this process, some of my pdf file got encrypted (a mystery to me). Now when I want to open the encrypted files, I got a message that reads "There was an error opening this document. Access denied." I am using Adobe Acrobat professional 8 and trying to open the documents on my old computer where the documents were originally created.
Any ideas how to solve this mystery?

Are you sure it is encryption and not file corruption? If it is encryption, you are asked for a password and not an error message.
Sure I am sure. The all files in the folder have green descriptions. The folder's name has changed to "encrypted".
