Iran was a prosperous country and had a lot going for it in the 70s ,the last thing we needed was to have a war with our neighbour despite our huge superiority .

Offcourse we lost soldiers. after all they were only made out of flesh. the the army back then was'nt made out of metal. the difference was like in 1975, the IIAF almost blew a whole iraqi tank battalion into pieces because we had an organaised airforce and army. there are things mostpeople in the public dont know about. in 1975 iraq was getting ready to invade abadan with a backing of the russians. they were covertly sending there tanks towards iran and iranian spies in iraq in shia south found out and relayed the message. within hours two formation of 4 phantoms and f-5 tigers took off from hamadan and tehran and almost destroyed the whole iraqi taank and armor advance.

Then the accord between iran and iraq was signed. iran had the ability to invade iraq within weeks and saddamb knew it.
