correct call. I have seen exactly the similar thing happen in lower european leagues and the call was a free kick from close distance.

The correct call is indeed a free-kick, but that rule should change. It's stupid. It should either be a penalty or an indefensible free-kick (no defenders or keepers against the ball).

Penalty would be the fair call. I mean whats the difference between a defender diving for the ball and preventing a goal or a sub do the same?! Both are preventing a 100% sure goal.
