Iran Expels Foreign Steward for Misbehavior
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran expelled a Greek flight attendant after he insulted Iranian passengers by using the forged name 'Arabian Gulf' instead of 'Persian Gulf' on a domestic flight.
After the fake name "Arabian Gulf" was screenplayed on a Kish Air flight heading to Iran's southern Island of Kish from Tehran, a number of passengers voiced their strong protest at the move, but George Siana threatened to arrest the protesters, alleging that he is the officer responsible for the flight security.
Head of Iran's Law Enforcement Police Office for Migration and Foreign Nationals Gholam Reza Rezaeian told FNA that the steward was summoned to the police office on the Kish Island in cooperation with Kish Air's Managing Director and his certificate of operation was terminated.
"The Greek steward is also facing a restriction for entering the country because of his improper behavior and irresponsible act," Rezaeian added.
Despite volumes of valid historical and geographical documents that prove authenticity of the name of Persian Gulf, some Arab regimes have tried to violate international norms in using fake names for the strategic waterway.
The Persian Gulf has a pivotal place in the Iranian history and culture, and any move to rename it will provoke the fury of the Iranian nation and government.
The historical and geographical name of the waterway has been endorsed and clarified by the United Nations and other international agencies.
The latest UN directive confirming the name of the Persian Gulf was issued on August 18, 1994.
