Iranian ships to leave for Gaza
June 13, 2010

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Two Iranian Red Crescent ships are ready to sail for Gaza.

The ships, which will carry food, medical aid and volunteer medical personnel, are awaiting permission from the Iranian Foreign Ministry before leaving for the coastal strip.

The Red Crescent told the French news agency AFP that the ship carrying food and medicine will leave this week, and that more than 100,000 Iranians have volunteered to travel to Gaza on the second ship.

The Red Crescent also said it will send 30 tons of medical equipment by plane to Egypt to be transferred to Gaza.

No plan to escort Gaza-bound Ships: commander
TEHRAN, June 14 (MNA) -- The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has no plan to escort humanitarian aid ships to Gaza, IRGC Deputy Commander Hossein Salami said on Monday.
On June 6th an official in the IRGC Navy announced that the IRGC Navy was totally prepared to escort Gaza-bound humanitarian aid ships to protect them against possible Israeli attacks.

Elsewhere, Salami added the IRGC is not concerned about the latest sanctions slapped against Iran as the country has experienced various kinds of sanctions since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Iran has not designed its economy based on interaction with the major powers, thus sanctions would not affect the economic condition of the country to a great extent, the commander noted.

With all due respect, we have discussed this for lengths before. So I am not trying to convince you here and just stating my opinion for the rest and I do respect that we agree to disagree on this matter. So if you do not reply, that is OK with me.

In my opinion, many like you my friend naively follow it and try to generalize and put things in boxes out of the whole complex history and culture, trying to find the blame somewhere they define what they perceive as "others" and brand it as cancer.

There is no cancer other than intolerance and bigotry, my friend, which results in likes of IRI and Saddam.

The cure is to be open and objective. Discard whatever bad, be it Iranian, Arab, Islam, Christianity, Communism or whatever culture.

It is not the question of right or wrong for THESE ships. The answer for that is very clear. For any humanitarian aid ship Israel should try to use the least invasive methods and try to avoid entering them when in international waters. That is the right thing to do.

However, the main question is how to handle "THESE IRANIAN/LEBANESE" ships so that it gives them the "least" or "worst" publicity, especially that they can NOT use inside Iran. I do not know how but that would be what I would have saught from a think tank if I were to act.

There were actually 4 AIDS ships, 1 going twrd Gaza, one sailing toward Bam, the other 2 sailing to AbAdAn and Khorranshahr.
