great point guys..so true..
In my view Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen and specially Syria treated their demonstrators far far worse than IR did.
This is not to say that IR is not capable of being as mean and as violent as these Arabs and even Syria. It's just that in Iran people stopped demonstrating. I also say this: if Iranians took to the streets when they had the momentum the regime would have crumbled. They could have but they stopped.
Not Egypt Behrouz jan but Bahrain and specially Syria govt are def more vigorous in killing masses of their ppl. but Syria is using the exact tactics IR was using against our ppl: dispersing protesters using chains and gunshot, using trucks-minivans to step on civilians and kill them. these are exact tactics that IR have taught their allies.
The difference is bc Iran's protests didnt last as long as Syrians, we didnt witness as many civilian casualties. but of course IR kill secretly too. We've had more capital punishment, and direct/indirect murder of our protesters(in prisons) in post-election than ever before in our history..According to Human Rights group.
Well looking Back at these 2 years, I say people do not want change badly. Yes most of the people do want change, however they do not want to pay for it. People in Syria want change and they are paying for it. If tomorrow government says no problem do the peaceful demonstration people will come out in Millions. We know this will never happens under this regime, so those who are waiting for that GOOD LUCK.
Everything in life one need to work hard at it and risk, but at the moment I say people are NOT ready to risk anything. They are some how happy with what they have, so they rather keep that than Risk anything. Once they get to the point of get out and risk means joneshoon be labeshoon resideh I just feel really bad for all the youngsters that get arrested, killed and tortured.
GOLD..just gold..
Next time listen to me.
If people had not gotten to the streets in support of Mousavi and the "green movement" (as I advised) then the core of Green movement would have remained viable while the current internal battle between Ahmadinejad/Mashaei and the conservatives would have played out and then the Green movement could have used the next election to take over the government and then fighting a much weakened system from inside. But as it stands the Green movement and most if not all of its political leaders are marginalized and dead for all practical purposes.
Thats very true actually. but at the same time, during Green movement and recent comments by reformist leaders inside and outside the country completely exposed IR's reformists to ppl that they were wrong to rely on them as alternatives to current govt. that IR is not reformable and even current so called "reformists" dont think/act much differently than AN. All of them obey Khamenei at all times and believe in having "Supreme leader" and "Islamic republic" concept and constitution..
so in a sense, Im glad the whole Election turn out and its aftermath happened, bc for one thing proved to all of us that "Reformist", "Progressive", x,y, parties in IR are all the same.Just sound different. our ppl realized their choice is now either accept IR as it is, or fight for regime change.
