Killing someone in self-defence requires no "higher moral justification". It is fully justified and the right to exist is the most basic universal right which supercedes all other rights and morality issues - it even extends to the animal kingdom.
If you were on the street and being attacked by a Basiji with a knife or gun, would your first concern be higher moral principles or survival at any cost? That's the question we ALL need to ask ourselves before issuing directives for people on the streets. Their right to live and to live not as slaves but free men (humans), is far more important than any other moral principle and any act of killing under these circumstances is not killing for the sake of killing.
It's almost belittling the people on the streets who have shown the utmost reservation in protecting the lives of NE and police to prevent an escalation of violence and brutality to say that they are or would be killing for the sake of killing IMHO. There are limits for everyone and everything and if people have been symaptehtic to a great extent up to this point, it is unreasonable and unrealistic to expect them to protect and preserve the lives of those who're hurting them.

Nothing justifies death. Nothing.
As for all those moslem greens killing their other moslems, that is a sad human situation. They both need the education of Zend-Avesta.
What happens on the street is violence. Violence is pathetic.
What we have in Iran is a civilized people with a culture second to none. The muslims have made us look mad.
Never, never dare you think that we can build Iran on blood. Sure go ahead kill your moslem brother, but no real Iranian is with you.
A Real Iranian can look at the moslem and say, you do not love life. We do.
