Wayne Rooney hair transplant: I'm delighted, says Man Utd star

WAYNE Rooney says he is “delighted” with his new hair transplant after years of battling ***premature baldness.

The 25-year-old ***striker underwent the specialist ***treatment earlier this week – then proudly shared the news with his 738,000 followers on Twitter.
The Manchester United star tweeted: “Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant.
“I was going bald at 25 why not. I’m delighted with the result.”
Rooney became paranoid about his receding hairline after former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo nicknamed him Bobby Charlton – after the Man Utd legend with the famous combover.

But after undergoing a ***procedure called follicular unit extraction at the clinic in Harley Street, London – estimated to cost €13,500 – he cannot wait to show off the results. He tweeted: “It’s still a bit bruised and swollen when it dies down u will be first to see it.” He even quipped: “Anyone ***recommend any good hair gel. Haha.”
Wife Coleen insisted she had nothing to do with the move. She tweeted: “His own decision not me asking him, like alot are ***saying!! Pleased for him and it will look great x.”
And Wayne’s team-mate Rio Ferdinand joked: “You’ll be doing head&shoulders adverts soon!”
The support from his fellow United players will be a boost for Rooney, who has struggled not to take changing-room jokes about his thinning thatch to heart.
In a recent Twitter exchange, teammate Michael Owen mocked Wayne’s profile picture, saying: “How old are you in that photo? Your face looks like a 12-year-old’s but your hair looks like a 60-year-old’s!” Roo replied: “U know that’s a sensitive subject.”

Rooney was placed under local anaesthetic for the eight-hour transplant procedure at the Queen Anne Street Medical Centre, home to the Harley Street Hair Clinic.
Individual hairs are removed from a donor patch, one at a time, using a punch-like precise micro-surgical tool, leaving pinprick-size wounds which heal quickly.
The hairs are then “planted” into tiny incisions. The procedure is available at only a handful of clinics across Europe.

He will now recover on holiday in Barbados with wife Coleen, 25, and 19-month-old son Kai.
Rooney has reportedly been preparing for the treatment since Christmas. Many patients are prescribed minoxidil, a lotion which promotes hair growth, to apply to the donor area prior to surgery. He will also have been supplied with Prednisolone to prevent inflammation, and ***Augmentin, an antibiotic.
Rooney has reportedly been trying to combat his hair loss for the past two years, shaving his head to avoid a noticeable ***“widow’s peak”. In May 2009 he was said to be using a scalp lotion with drug Propecia to try to block hair loss hormones.

The operation was a huge success.Rooney reported to Carrington today at which point Fergie told him :

" Well done boy , now go get a haircut and don't you ever think about using gel when you come to training."
