I went with the family last year. We actually bought our tickets at the box-office at the Stadium. They offer a package that bundles a ticket, and a one-year Fan club membership for slightly more than the price of a ticket. You also get a scarf which my kids really liked. If you are there, ask about it.
They also have tours of the facilities, usually mid-week. You get to see he grounds, facilities, trophies, etc. I forget the price, but I remember it being fairly reasonable.
p.s. There are some small, historic towns (such as Avila, Toledo) within driving distance (1-2 hours) of Madrid. I highly recommend making time for at least one or two.
