Dear Mr. Oghabalborz, Kasra, and others:
On behalf of myself and many of my friends who read this site, I just wanted to drop you a note and thank you for all your contributions to this site. Your knowledge of Iranian Football and its history is truly exceptional. One of the two reasons I visit this site is to see your occasional posts.
We are also dismayed at the occasional nonsense that is occasionally thrown your way. But in every group, you will find those who prefer to curse the darkness rather than lighting a candle. Please keep up the good work. There are many like me who benefit from your contributions.
I, personally, admire your very positive attitude as a fan of Iranian football. You seem to understand that what "Melli" in "Team Melli" stands for. We may be disappointed once again, or we may luck out and accomplish something. Either way, we the fans will continue to support TM, come what may.
Thanks again and GO TM.
I had to through the whole thread , but first of all thanks for the kind words and welcome to the board , kasra jan was also too kind to me but I am not worthy of it ...I never reached playing at a level to be even considered to be invited just to watch team melli train !
you asked about what could querosh have done in the first half taking advantage of the holes in Argantine defence ? my answer is I don't know ...I couldn't see that far , I was busy watching what Messi and Aguero and other top guns in their team were going to do ,needed to concentrate not giving them an inch , they were several level ahead of us and we had to keep the shape and orders that we had to try and stand up to their attacks .
we were under tremendous pressure and naturally so , it would have been suicidal to switch to attack , we are looking back now in hindsight knowing the result but as it happens live in the heat of the battle is a different story , I think we did excellent and unlucky to lose but there is not one person I have seen since who did not praise Iran for their display.
This incident left a mark in my mind wondering how did he do that for 30 years ! until about 3 years ago a lovely person called shahram posted the video on youtube .
some may see it now and say ok great save lets move on but if you were there that day or were watching it live on TV like I was and saw it happen just once with no replay it would have left a mesmerising effect on you .
I still see it and think it is not something possible to do , there are not many keeper I can think of who can pull a save like that ...in a derby in front of 100,000 fans , everybody thought that's it ..1-0 ... perspolisis halfway up to jump with joy , just hear the roar of 100,000 fans ...
