I live in Sydney, Australia and coming to LA around 17th March, hopefully will be there for 2 weeks.
And guuuys, I'm just like some Oz Geek, know nothing about LA and I would be appreciated if you could help, enlighten me with the following issues I have ...

1. Even with OZ passport that i've got, are the Customs at the Airport still strict with checking and evrything? what are they actually checking? how can I get along with them? what kinda questions would they ask me?

2. How's the Transport facility in LA? Does it worth if I just hire a car for 2 weeks?

3. Due to "Eid e Norooz" era, would it be hard to find a hotel around that time coz of iroonis pouring into LA for "Eid e Norooz" celebrations? I would be appreciated if you recommend any nice and reasonable price hotel available?

4. Must see places in LA? .. bring em on ...

5. Must eatable places? .. resturants i mean ... doesn't matta .. iroonis, latinos, burgers, anything ...

6. Irooni parties, clubs and night out places ...

7. It's been my dream to attend Moein's concert one day and please tell me my dream comes true if he's got a concert around that time?

8. last, I don't mind meeting up some of you folks in ISP as I know most of you guys in this site (Ive been ISP member for nearly 10 years but don't post much)

Thanks guys,

Just one note, keep your expectations low. LA is the butt hole of America (generally South Cali is the butt hole of the US).

It's dirty, too Spanish, and too crowded. Reminds me of Tehran, every time I go. Seriously, the real Tehran...mooh nemizane.

this post takes me back to 1999, i just got a car and drove all the way to LA from Vancouver (23 hours of straight driving) , since i was a kid it was always about LA .. all singers in LA, actors, etc, i went thinking its heaven on earth , as Dariush-44 said, i was VERY disappointed, it was nothing special and looked very crowded and lots of traffic, i assume it has gotten worst now , then i went to San Diego from LA, now that was a beautiful city, loved it, sea world was just amazing, again i 100% recommend you going to LA, but dont think anything anything special ... if u can go to San Diego and if you are 21 + GO TO VEGAS ... that is another CRAZY city , i also liked Santa Barbara .

regarding your question number 1:
were you born in Iran or some other country? if you you were born in pretty much ANY country but iran, you will not have much problem, if you were BORN (regardless of your passport) in Iran, be ready to get raped.

ZA jan, is the owner of Raffi chelo kabob, the same guy who had a show with Doctor Ganji in which they advocated using mikh in streets of Tehran to start unrest in Iran? Wonder if he has a hardware store too ;)?

LOL. This Raffi is kind of like the soup nazi. He ain't too outgoing. But his wife is very nice. She let me get in without the wait since I was with my little boy. Their shishlik is the best not to mention their mast o mosir.

Thanks guys,
My advice bud, is to have an extremely huge chelokabob meal, then take a 4-hour drive to Vegas and forget about LA. You'll have more fun avoiding Iroonis and gambling your pension away.

But seriously, if you are here go to Bijan's restaurant, Luna Cafe, in San Diego and go to the San Diego Zoo. Also go to Silicon Valley and of course yes, Vegas is a must. But you should see the rest of the country man, esp. Chicago, Florida, NY and such. It all depends on how long you're here and who you're with though.

Sorry, but those who say LA has nothing have no clue. LA is a great place, it just depends on where you go and what you do there.

Ozmatejan, Zob-Ahan and others answered your questions pretty well. But make sure you visit these places as well: Palos Verdes, Malibou and Pepperdine University, Sunset Blvd, Melrose Avenue, Venice Beach, Attari at Westwood (they've got good Iranian Sandwiches), Cruise on Mulholland Drive...sunset blvd and Topanga Canyon.
Btw, thanks again for that khoshkele moosharabi song that you sent too me a couple of years ago. I still listen to it every once in a while. Have a great time in LA.

Attari just added koobideh to its menu & is pretty darn good. Their zaboon sandwich is to die for.
Good post by the way. Some people are just jealous. Gorbeh dastesh be goosht namirese mige pftt boo mide. I mean LA has its short comings but if it wasn't a good place to live or visit it wouldn't be so in demand. The home values don't go up for nothing. There is a big demand to live here. LA is probably the only place that is warm enough to go to the beach yet if you drive an hour and a half, you could be in the snowy mountains of Big Bear.
Ozmate, add Big Bear & Palm Springs & Rodeo Drive to your itinerary.

Ardy jan .. thanks for the places you mentioned ..
lol that song .. you just reminded me to listen to it again after a long time .. I like the way he compares khayyam, Hafez and saadi with moo sharabi .. funny

zod ahan jan .. merci for updates ..
