We all know that IRI has a very bad double standard policy toward Arab Spring revolutions. Like they almost supported Libyan government but retracted after it was so obvious that Gadafi is going to go or they are supporting Syrian government while crying out loud and clear about Bahrain.

That is IRI and you would not expect justice from them.

However, the way US and media ignored Bahrain almost completely is beyond me! In fact, Bahrain government sought Saudi support and got it and there was no word of condemnation from US or any other Western media.

I know, in there too, IRI hands existed and the West feared an IRI puppet rising there. But seriously, this is a cold war mentality! US liberated (if you believe in that term) Iraq from Saddam with force and with a big political and economical cost and basically handed Iraq over to some of closest allies of IRI.

What do you think? Do you think US should have done the same as IRI and approached Arab spring movements depending on the outcome of their revolutions?
Or do you think they should have warned Saudis and despite the costs let Bahrain also succeed?
Or perhaps they could let Bahrain succeed in a controlled way and have somewhat liberal secular government replacing the current Sheikhdom?

Or maybe they feared the revolution spreading to Saudi Arabia, falling into hands of Al-Qaeda which is in a very bigger risk to the US than IRI, who might be against Iranian people but somewhat in line with US interests for the time being.

What do you think?

I think the whole western world's approach to Bahrain was simply disgusting.

God bless Aljazeera for keeping Bahrain and Syria both in the news.

It is a common knowledge that Western countries breeds and feeds corrupt dictators who practice torture to stay in power. The jargon about human rights and reforms is a trick used to fool people.

The murdering of innocent people, especially in Bahrain where there is an enormous USA and UK naval base, is carried out under the supervision of the USA and UK. Many in the Middle East believe that the West encourages and supports corrupt and brutal dictators to promote its economic interests; lip service is paid to "human rights" but the reality is different.

IMO, the Western governments have been involved, covertly or overtly for decades through financial institutions (such as IMF and World Bank) and military involvement (for example, selling Arms to KSA and Bahrain in the Persian Gulf region).

I don't know when or if you boyz are going to get it.... but right now, USA has ZERO foreaign policy or plans.....Obama just follows what he is told from London with no regards on long or short tern US interets.
Get that and then you can proceed on figuring out what is going on in Bahrain, Tunisia, Lybia, Egypt, Syria, .......
Get that and youy'd know why USA biggest enemies are relaxed these days...while those who at any point in time allied with the Americans or made agreements with them are falling...
When it comes to the ME these days - Look into the roles of France, Italy, EU, Northern Europe Royals,......because USA is just a tool these days, with the remote in the hands of the royals in Northern Europe.

Dear Referee, Sir

IMHO The era of West mounting one person in charge of a nation (particularly in Middle East) and backing him up no matter the material and human cost is over.
Demographics in these nations have changed drastically and new generations of educated youth who comprise huge percentage of the population and increasing are in forefront of society demanding what they believe it is their inalienable right. Look at our own 2009 uprising, the same Iranian woman who did nothing but stay home all day, bear children and cook 50 years ago was leading a massive national movement.

If U.S or any Western nation wants to maintain and continue strategic and commercial relation with these nations they must figure out a way to establish connection with this segment of society because they are going to be the leaders in near future.

About Bahrain, U.S should withdraw her support to Isa Al Khalifa and his bloodsucking family and let Bahrainis decide their own destiny, even if this might requires disbanding the 5th Fleet Command structure. It is a useless wing of USN anyway.

Western nation let go of Suharto and now the democratic Indonesia is a commercial hop and a trustee partner. Why not Bahrain, KSA or Syria?
