I decided to start a thread where all news concerning World Cup squads of the 32 teams can be posted, such as preliminary lists, final lists, injuries and other news. Couple things I picked up today:

-After Rodriguez, Walcott and Townsend there's a 4th English player who could miss the World Cup: Kyle Walker of Tottenham.
-Scolari has pointed out 9 players who are already sure of a spot in the Brazilian squad: Thiago Silva, Júlio César, David Luiz, Willian, Oscar, Ramires, Paulinho, Neymar and Fred.

Well i have a soft spot for the Belgians. This is a great young team but the latest news around the team is not very good. Benteke their striker (Aston Villa) is hurt and will miss the world cup.

Benteke out for six months
-
Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has been ruled out for six months due to a ruptured Achilles tendon and will miss Belgium's World Cup campaign.

Confirmation of Benteke's setback came from his club on Thursday evening, after he underwent a scan having suffered the injury in an earlier training session.

In a statement on Villa's website, manager Paul Lambert said: "It's a terrible blow both for Christian and for the club.

"He will miss the rest of the season, obviously, and also the World Cup. But he'll work hard because that's what he does and he'll come back for us stronger than ever next season."

Villa said in their statement: "Christian Benteke will undergo surgery after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon injury today in training.

"He will be out for a minimum of six months."

The powerful forward, who joined from Genk in August 2012, was Villa's leading scorer and driving force in his first season at the club.

Although he has at times struggled to reproduce that form during his second term at Villa Park, the 23-year-old has remained the focal point of Lambert's attack, scoring 11 goals in the current campaign.

He was set for his first World Cup with Belgium, despite experiencing a recent goal drought at international level.

Benteke has frequently been linked with a move away from Villa Park, but the anticipated length of his absence looks likely to rule out any summer departure as it means he is not expected back until October at the earliest.

Belgium will face South Korea, Algeria and Russia in the group stage at the World Cup finals in Brazil, having been among the top seeds following a dramatic resurgence in the country's footballing fortunes.

Benteke has provided a fresh spark in attack, along with Romelu Lukaku, while the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne have provided promptings from midfield, ahead of a rearguard that features Vincent Kompany and Atletico Madrid's on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

While Villa will not consider themselves safe from relegation, they look to be nearly there. With seven games of their campaign remaining, Lambert's side stand eight points clear of the bottom three.

Manchester City centre-back Kompany, captain of club and country, sent his support to Benteke.

Kompany wrote on Twitter: "Wishing you all the strength you need @bentekechris20 and I hope you will recover quickly! We're all with you together!"

yeah I read that, big blow to Belgium. Still have a lot of attacking talent though, with Mertens, Lukaku, Hazard, De Bruyne, Dembele and Chadli, but Benteke is a big loss. Holland also had to suffer a big blow a while back, with Strootman missing the World Cup.

In 86 they had a very good team and finished 4th. I don't think either they will be the dark horse.

Add to that list Januzaj, seems like the coach really likes him and he will probably be a part of their final 23. Also seems like Miralles will miss the World Cup?

Loosing Strootman will really Netherlands though, that was a huge blow. Who will replace him you think?

Not sure, the difference between this Holland team and the previous Holland teams is that not much is certain about the line-ups. Van Gaal has tried many different ones and there's still little to be sure about. Robben and Van Persie look sure of their place in the line-up, but besides that it's a lot of guesswork. There's no one with all Strootman's qualities in the team, so personally I'd put Leroy Fer there. He comes closest as a player who can contribute to defence and attack and also has a strong physical presence and mentality. I think that would be the smartest choice Van Gaal can make.

There is a lot of talent in this team. And they rose amongst croatia, Serbia, a rejuvenated Scotland, and an unpredictable Wales and Macedonia.
not an easy group.

Benteke's loss will hopefully be remedied with the collaboration between Hazard and Lakuku. Januzadj (sp) will not feature much this WC. They have plenty of talent in midfield and attack.
The defence however might pose some issues for them.

They will breeze through the group stage, I am predicting.

^^ Was that the greatest team Belgium ever had or what?

Argentina striker Sergio (Kun) Aguero limped off the pitch this Saturday after equalising for Manchester City against Everton at Goodison Park.

Apparently Koon has suffered from a tight groin.
