Is thr $70 per hour figure correct ??!!
This is more than what an engineer with master makes per avaergae !!!!!
That is their total compensation, not just salary. It includes overtime, pension and health care plan. And it is accurate and if anything it slightly underestimates their compensation.

It is not just higher, but much, much higher than what a very good engineer makes in total compensation. Furthermore, engineers are exempt employees and they get no overtime but it is safe to say that the average work week is substantially above 40 hours per week.

As I mentioned to deerouz in another thread, except for some specialty engineers in certain industries, engineers as a whole do not have lobbying presence in Washington, therefore unlike financial institutions on the one end and UAW types on the other, dentists and other healthcare professionals and many more, engineers do not get unfair advantages instituted by the government at the point of the gun. UAW has been getting away with murder, literally.

Of course in every single case each interest group justifies its unfair advantage that it has secured through lobbying government by stating that they are doing it for the public good. Of course if this were the case, they would never need to lobby the government to force their holy work onto others. In reality they are doing it only to secure gaining usury money from all the rest of the people. They are in effect stealing from others.

And predictably, they react violently when their source of usury money is threatened.

This is done in subtle ways and it is not always in direct cash payment from the government to the interest groups as it currently is in the case of UAW workers.

For example, it is very difficult for a foreign educated dentist to practice in the US. This is done through liscencure laws instituted by the government. However, it is many, many times easier for a foreign educated engineer to practice in the US. Why? Real answer: lobbying by ADA in order to keep the pool of dentists low to keep salaries higher than otherwise. Answer given: for public safety and the good of public.

I do not mean to pick on dentists in particular. There are plenty that one can pick on. This is governing through lobbying to steal from others. Each is trying to find ways to steal from others at the point of the gun.

It has a lot to do with it. Because there are individuals who dedicate their entire post graduate careers to analyzing the political influence of different groups and they usually reach completely different conclusions than what FP states. I respect their analyses a lot more than FP's unsubstantiated opinion. With all due respect of course.
For example...? What issue did he address that conflicts with this supposed standard in political thought?
