It has nothing to do with integrity or cheating. If the work is of your own or from your research group there is nothing wrong with using similar introductions, definitions, etc. When it gets to copy and pasting its a different story...but still it happens every so often I'm sure advisors that...

NVM... i hadn't look closely enough to see he copied and pasted the work of others. Like Abedzade said, if its your own work yea people do it often... even other peoples work it happens every now and then, but that's when the advisor is the same or when two researches are in the same group...

I'm not defending him, but based on my experience many people do that and it's not the case of it being an isolated event like it is with data fudging and other things. This happens every so often for journal submissions to engineering type papers. The author essentially submits the same type...
