I’m not sure what you meant by that part. I believe the green movement was not directly addressing what people wanted, which was a fundamental change. People put their trust in leaders that were elements of the same system as its ”safety valve”, and before, during and after, have shown their allegiance to the regime rather than the people. At the same time, the Islamic republic is not capable of change, or worthy of reform. It has too much blood on its hand and too much tyranny in its history. It has been very sinister yet effective in dividing people and frustrating their movements for freedom and justice. Fortunately people are rediscovering how interconnected they are in their sufferings and united in their struggles. Hopefully soon they can also eradicate more subtle elements of “mullah culture” such as mistrust, cynicism, ridicule and replace them with compassion, fairness, and trust.
